Our Belief

We believe in

  1. the Old Testament and the New Testament of the Bible as revelation of the only and true God, all inspired by God, always reliable, error-free.

  2. Gospel Church’s beliefs, and accept the Apostles' creed as the criteria of our belief:

  • We believe in God, the Almighty Father, the Creator of Heaven and earth.

  • We believe in Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, one person in the Trinity, With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.

  • We believe in the Holy, Apostolic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Aims

The aim of the Canaan Church is to be a Bible-based Gospel Church, where the Old and the New Testaments are taught with the emphasis on feeding the souls of her members, seeking God’s words through prayers and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, where people will know and feel God’s love.

Mission

Our mission is to put up a cross on a hill slope on Lamma Island and preach the gospel of salvation to everyone on the Island, establishing it to be an Island of Gospel.

Goals

Our common goal is to develop the Canaan Church into a large and relevant bilingual Church that provides a quiet place for retreatants and where souls are healed, with the capability to serve up to 6,000 believers and her members are of one mind, closely-related and cohesive.
